Collective Bargaining Agreements

This page includes sections that provide current agreements, as well as updates on current and recent bargaining between the Mabton School District and its labor associations.

Per RCW 28A.320.055, each school district, charter school, and state-tribal compact school must publish on its web site a copy of its public school employee collective bargaining agreements by September 1, 2014, and thereafter must update the web site within thirty days of approval, renewal, or amendment of any such agreement.

  • On 10-07-2021, The Mabton Education Association ratified an MOU that addresses work hours during student led conferences.  This agreement covers school years 2021-2024.
  • On 09-22-2021, The Mabton Board of Directors took action to approve the MEA 2021-2024 Collective Bargaining Agreement, and a COVID MOA for the 2021-22 School Year.
  • On 09-21-2021, The Mabton Education Association ratified a 2021-2024 Collective Bargaining Agreement, and a COVID MOA for the 2021-22 School Year.

  • By a vote of the Mabton School Board, the May 31, 2022 tentative agreement was accepted and approved.  The approved collective bargaining agreement is therefore in place for 2022-2026.  
  • My a vote of the Mabton Chapter of Public School Employees, the May 31, 2022 tentative agreement was ratified.
  • A tentative agreement was reached between the Mabton School District and the Mabton Chapter of Public School Employees on May 31, 2022.

  • The Mabton Coaches Association agreement was tentatively agreed and Board approved on November 29, 2021.  Pay and benefit increases are retroactive to the start of the school year.

ARCHIVE OF UPDATES

 
  • The Mabton Public Schools Employees (PSE) Chapter submitted to the Mabton School District (MSD) Board of Directors a "tentative agreement" regarding pay scale for the 2020-21 and 2021-2022 school years.  The Board of Directors approved the agreement at their regular meeting on October 26, 2020, authorizing the Superintendent to execute the agreement.  The letter of agreement was signed on October 27, 2020 by both the PSE President and the Superintendent.
  • The Mabton Coaches Association and the Mabton School District have agreed to an MOU regarding coaches contracts and the impact of COVID-19 for the 2020-2021 school year.  
  • On 03-30-2021, The MSD approved a tentative agreement with MEA to revise physical distancing from 6 feet to 3 feet for students. The agreement becomes part of and alters the current MOA.
  • On 03-30-2021, The MEA ratified a tentative agreement the the MSD to revise physical distancing from 6 feet to 3 feet for students. 
  • On 04-12-2021, The Mabton Board of Directors took action to the instructional program to full-time in-person learning as soon as is feasible.  On 04-13-2021, MEA communicated the need to bargain the impacts.  MEA and MSD to meet on 04-15-2021 at 3:15pm.
  • On 01-25-2021,  MSD Board of Directors took action to accept and approve the COVID MOA ratified by MEA membership on 01-19-2021.
  • On 01/19/2021,  MEA membership voted to ratify a re-negotiated tentative agreement that updates the current COVID MOA to reflect the new Governor's Proclamation.
  • On 01/07/2021,  MEA membership voted to not ratify the 01/06/2021 tentative agreement.  
  • On 01/06/2021, MEA and MSD have reached a tentative agreement to update the current COVID MOA to reflect the new Governor's Proclamation.
  • On 01/06/2021, MEA and MSD will bargain the impacts of the updated Governor's Proclamation and its impact on the current COVID MOA.
  • On 11/16/2020, the MEA ratified an MOA with Mabton School District concerning the return to hybrid learning during COVID-19.  The Mabton School Board approved the agreement the same day.  
  • The Mabton Education Association (MEA) and Mabton School District (MSD) did not come to an agreement on November 5, 2020, and are scheduled to continue bargaining the return to school due to changes in guidance from health authorities on MEA's next available time of November 10 and 12, 2020.
  • The Mabton Education Association (MEA) and Mabton School District (MSD) did not come to an agreement on October 27, 2020, and are scheduled to continue bargaining the return to school due to changes in guidance from health authorities on MEA's next available time of November 5, 2020.
  • The Mabton Education Association (MEA) and Mabton School District (MSD) are scheduled to continue bargaining the return to school due to changes in guidance from health authorities on October 27, 2020.
  • The Mabton Education Association (MEA) and Mabton School District (MSD) are scheduled to continue bargaining the return to school due to changes in guidance from health authorities on October 26, 2020.
  • The Mabton Education Association (MEA) and Mabton School District (MSD) are scheduled to continue bargaining the return to school due to changes in guidance from health authorities on October 22 and 23, 2020.

  • On 10/5/2020, the Mabton Education Association (MEA) issued a demand to bargain for the return to school with the Mabton School District (MSD).  MEA and MSD are scheduled to bargain on Wednesday, 10/7/2020, from 8:00am to 11:30am.
  • The Mabton Education Association (MEA) and Mabton School District (MSD) have agreed to an MOA regarding distance learning for the start of the 2020-21 school year.  The Mabton Board of Directors approved and accepted a corrected version of the agreement at a Special Board Meeting on Sept 14, 2020.
  • The Mabton Education Association (MEA) and Mabton School District (MSD) have agreed to an MOA regarding distance learning for the start of the 2020-21 school year.  The Mabton Board of Directors approved and accepted the agreement at a regular Board Meeting on August 24, 2020.
  • The Mabton Education Association (MEA) and Mabton School District (MSD) have agreed to an MOA regarding the reopening of school in remote learning mode for the 2020-21 school year.  MEA had ratified and the Mabton School Board approved the agreement, which is effective August 24, 2020.
  • The Mabton Education Association (MEA) delivered to the Mabton School District (MSD) a "demand to bargain" regarding the impacts of reopening school for 2020-21 after the COVID-19 closure, on July 1, 2020.
  • On October 13, 2020 The Mabton Public Schools Employees (PSE) Chapter and Mabton School District (MSD) reached a "tentative agreement" regarding pay scale for the 2020-21 and 2021-2022 school years.  There will not be further bargaining on October 15, 2020 as previously scheduled.  
  • The Mabton Public Schools Employees (PSE) Chapter and Mabton School District (MSD) are scheduled to bargain pay scale on October 13 and October 15, 2020.  
  • The Mabton Public Schools Employees (PSE) Chapter and Mabton School District (MSD) have agreed to an MOU regarding the reopening of school for the 2020-21 school year.  The Mabton Board of Directors approved and accepted the agreement at a Special Board Meeting on Sept 14, 2020.
  • The Mabton Public Schools Employees (PSE) Chapter and the Mabton School District (MSD) are currently in negotiations regarding the reopening of school for the 2020-21 school year.
  • The Mabton Public Schools Employees (PSE) Chapter delivered to the Mabton School District (MSD) a "demand to bargain" regarding the impacts of reopening school for 2020-21 after the COVID-19 closure, on August 14, 2020.
  • The Mabton Public Schools Employees (PSE) and the Mabton School District (MSD) are scheduled to negotiate a reopener in the current CBA that addresses pay rates only.  The first bargaining date is set for September 2, 2020 at 9:00am.
  • The Mabton Education Association (MEA and the Mabton School District have ratified their agreement for the 2019-2020 reopeners.  The School Board accepted and ratified on October 28, 2019.
  • The Mabton Education Association (MEA) and the Mabton School District will meet again to continue negotiations Article VIII, Section 9 (insurance) on October 7, 2019.
  • The Mabton Education Association (MEA) and the Mabton School District will meet again to continue negotiations Article VIII, Section 9 (insurance) on October 3, 2019.
  • The Mabton Education Association (MEA) and the Mabton School District agreed to a Letter of Agreement outlining changes in TPEP in accordance with RCW 28A.405.100. 
  • The Mabton Education Association (MEA) and the Mabton School District will meet to negotiate Article VIII, Section 9 (insurance) on September 18, 2019.
  • The Mabton Education Association (MEA) will present to the district a proposal for the recently re-opened Article VIII, Section 9 (insurance) on September 10, 2019.
  • The Mabton School District and Mabton Education Association (MEA) are set to re-open Article VIII, Section 9 (Insurance) to address the impacts of implementing the new SEBB benefits legislation.  This is per Article X of the 2018-2021 Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • The Mabton School District and Mabton Public School Employees (PSE) reached a tentative agreement on the evening of August 26, 2019.  PSE plans to meet with membership to vote on ratification of the agreement on September 18, 2019.  If ratified by PSE, the agreement will be presented to the Mabton School Board of Directors at the regular meeting on September 23, 2019.
  • The evening of August 26, 2019 the Mabton Board of Directors met in an exempt session to receive a briefing on contract negotiation proposals.
  • The Mabton School District and Mabton Public School Employees (PSE) are scheduled to continue negotiations in regard to Schedule A (pay schedule) on August 29, 2019.  This is per Section 18.3 of the 2018-2022 Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • On July 29, 2019, The Mabton Board or Directors approved a Letter of Agreement (LOA) authorizing Superintendent, Dr. Castilleja to enter into an agreement that outlines the addition of a "Transition Intervention Specialist" and a "Migrant Graduation Specialist' to the list of positions in the PSE Collective Bargaining Agreement.  The LOA has been signed by the Chapter president and superintendent. 
  • The Mabton School District and Mabton Public Schools Employees (PSE) are scheduled to renegotiate Schedule A (pay schedule) on August 7, 2019.  This is per Section 18.3 of the 2018-2022 Collective Bargaining Agreement.
