Washington State recently passed legislation requiring all schools in the state to develop new programs for effectively teaching highly capable students. To comply with this law, Mabton Schools will be offering highly capable programs for qualifying students in grades K-12. All potential students will need to be screened and tested in order to qualify. For identification purposes, students identified as highly capable students in the Mabton School District must obtain a percentile of 95 or above on a norm-referenced and standardized IQ assessment.

If you would like your student to be tested and considered for this program, please contact your school to pick up your nomination packet. After completing the packet, please return the information to your school office no later than September 21st. Your student will then be tested during the weeks of October 05-23. A second window will open in mid-February. Nomination forms are also available on this site.

If you find the need to submit a complaint about the state and federal programs within Mabton School District please do so through contacting the programs director, Teri Davison, or through the process outlined within policy 3210 and procedure 3210P.
