Frequently Asked Questions

All questions answered here are subject to change based on the information received from public agencies including, but not limited to the Department of Health, Center for Disease Control, Washington Governor’s office, and Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction.
 
What are the dates of the school cancellation?
School is cancelled from March 17th, 2020 through April 24th, 2020. Currently school will resume Monday, April 27th, 2020.
 
When will children return to school?
At this time we are scheduled to resume school on Monday, April 27th, 2020 - Things are changing quickly so please check our school website.
 
 
What services will be provided by the School District during the cancellation?
Starting Monday March 23rd, 2020, Mabton School District will be providing meal kits daily. The meal kits include one breakfast and one lunch.
 
Mabton School District also providing limited childcare for school age children. This childcare is only for health care providers or first responders and is a last resort. Children with high-risk factors for COVID-19 should also consider other means of childcare to support social distancing. If you are a first responder or health care provider and have children in the Mabton School District, please email a copy of your work credentials to [email protected] to advise us of your need for care. More information will be sent to you at that time.
 
Where are the food kits being distributed?
This question has two answers:
If you live within the city limits there will be two locations available. The first within the city limits is located at Artz Fox Elementary, and the second within the city limits is located at Park with the water towers.
 
If you live outside the city limits, a bus will deliver meal kits to each normal bus stop.

How are the food kits being distributed?

If you live within the city limits there will be two locations available. A bus will be present when the meals   are being distributed. The meal kits will be handed out in a walk up and drive up format.

If you live outside the city limits, a bus will deliver meal kits to each normal bus stop. They will be handed out to students as they meet the bus at the stop.

When are the food kits being distributed?
The meal kits will be available starting Monday March 23, 2020. Every normal week day the meal kits will be distributed starting at 10:30 am and ending 12:00 pm daily.
 
Are there any Education Resources for our children?

What about Athletics?
Currently all school sponsored athletics are postponed or cancelled.
 
What is happening to clean schools?
Our custodial staff are working hard to “deep clean’ and sanitize all areas. We are using chemicals consistent with EPA recommendations.
 
Has anything changed with Graduation?
Graduation specifics have not changed, but may change in coming days and weeks. Things are changing quickly so please check our school website.
 
What about AP Testing?
State testing will not happen this year. AP testing is on track this year, and will not be affected as long as the student return does not change from April 27th.
 
What will happen with State Assessments (SBAC, WA-AIM, ELPA21, WIDA, WaKids)?
As of March 13, state assessments are canceled statewide for the remainder of the 2020 school year.

Is Summer School still happening?
As of right now, yes. Things are changing quickly so please check our school website.
 
What if I need my personal items that are inside the school?
As of right now we would ask you to not come to the schools. If it is an emergency please contact the district. Otherwise we ask that you wait until April 27th.
